Stan livedeath I did exactly the same when my JW mum died in 2013. She’d been in a nursing home for 6 years prior to her death and no one cared. She would see the clergy of Christendom visiting their parishioners but no elder visits for her. When she died, I organised the burial and conducted a committal service with my husband, daughter and 2 funeral directors present.

Another example of. Brotherly love you can only find in jehovahs organization
by nowwhat? inso my 88 mil died and was the epitome of a faithful sister.
my wife and her sister are members of the congregation for 40+ years.
to be fair it was short notice but we had the showing and visitation and only about 12 out of 120 of the congregation showed up and only 1 elder!

Sister Not Sure If She Is 144 000 or Great Crowd
by Awake at last ini haven’t posted here for years as i have now moved on and am satisfied with the choice i have made to leave watchtower.
however in light of the coronavirus and people in australia and other countries being asked to stay at home i became concerned for a witness sister who lives in melbourne alone who is 88 years old.
today i gave her a call as i don’t trust the local witnesses to care for her.

Atlantis thank you for that link in your comment. I read the article and will refer her to it when I speak to her later today. What timing! I’d love her to leave but at her age she’s probably better off staying in. She has no family as she was never married and I am so far away. The JWs are all she has known all her adult life. There are aspects that she’s not happy with, ie.child abuse, lack of love and concern, lack of respect shown to her by the elders, changes she’s seeing, the generation teaching and so on.

Is that podium thing unique to JW's? Do they build them?
by InterestedOne ini was wondering about that half-table/half-podium thing that jw's use on the platform.
is that unique to jw's & do they build them, like shakers had their own furniture?.

During those meetings the mind does wander and as a result you start to wonder about all sorts of things.

Awake at last
Hi. I haven’t posted here for years as I have now moved on and am satisfied with the choice I have made to leave Watchtower. However in light of the Coronavirus and people in Australia and other countries being asked to stay at home I became concerned for a witness sister who lives in Melbourne alone who is 88 years old. Today I gave her a call as I don’t trust the local witnesses to care for her. She was crying when she picked up the phone. She was so lonely. We got talking and she raised a subject which I had no answer for. I said, “Leave it with me and I’ll think about it overnight and will talk about it when I call you back tomorrow.”. Well I’ve thought about it and I need your help. Sorry, but I have nowhere else to turn to get an answer quickly.
What she said was that ever since she had been “in the truth”, she had been wrestling with the possibility that she may be of the remnant. She knew the cut off was 1935, she was born in 1932. She knows they have changed that teaching now. She also knows that if you are of the remnant you know without a doubt that you are. As she has doubted for almost 70 years, she has never partaken of the emblems due to the doubt. She also said she doesn’t feel she fits in with the earthly hope. She’s very conflicted and I feel awfully sorry for her. The brothers don’t treat her well and due to her age and my distance from her (a 9 hour drive) I have never pushed her to leave the org. Does someone have any suggestions of what I can say to her to make her feel better. I’m totally lost here. Any help will be appreciated.

Jonny Depp, I don't know how you could afford to read them, unless you are the author of course. You certainly gave them a good write up.

Brooklyn Bethel Tours Through The Roof
by freemindfade inwas speaking with someone last night who just recently toured the us bethel's.
the brooklyn tour i heard was awful, very limited and disappointing and conducted by a local pioneer and not even a bethelite.
well from what they are telling the folks on the tour since the tm3 bit encouraging (guilting) people about going to disneyland on vacation when you haven't visited bethel, monthly tours went from 6000 to 16000!

I was in the US in 1995 from Australia and toured Brooklyn Bethel. I was at 25 Columbia Hts building and saw I think Bro Henshell (bald guy). Anyway it was made clear to me not to speak to him. Why, is he God or something? I went there to kick start my spirituality which had been lagging for as few years, but that and a few other observations kick started my fade instead.

The Society cares more about Mark Sanderson's stick of Judah than the elephant in the room
by truthseeker ini just watched the segment of mark anderson's, gb member, talking at the annual general meeting.. they care more about obscure prophecies than the child abuse crisis in the organization.. he talks about the two and ten tribe kingdoms of israel, the stick of joseph and stick of judah, and likens it to the anointed and great crowd.. what a bunch of craziness!.
this is the kind of crap spiritual food the drones get..

And then they will have new light so what he said will be obsolete, it is anyway. Yes they fail to address the real issues, things that are actually happening.
